It would be cool if you could see all players online. Possibly in a panel by interacting with this board? Along with the ability to invite them to party/add as friend.

Thanks for suggesting, I removed the old player counter from the UI and replaced it with a new button (above the chat) that shows the player count but also opens a panel to show all online characters! Each character has options for invite, whisper, friend, etc!
