Alex Heights gear is too low level
By the time you reach Alex Heights in the quest chain in Amberwood, you've far surpassed the level requirement of his gear. I reached his first quest around level 22, with only minor mob grinding, so probably a natural encounter of level 20-21. He offers level 6 gear, players will already have passed the Ember Guardian encampment several times at this point, and likely acquired some level 18 gear from there. Making the gear from Alex null and void.
