Better Mounts
Something I loved from GW2, was how each mount had a unique ability, and it meant that you collected all the mount varieties, and each one will forever be useful. In regards to other MMOs, this is super unique. WoW is the big comparison here, you get a mount, you use it for a week and then get a new one and slowly they become forgettable.
I think the unique direction is like with GW2 and giving each mount a purpose. Here are my considerations for the current mounts in game.
🦊 Onyx Fox (The Original Mount) :
Given that this is the OG mount, it needs to feel special and always feel special. On top of that, it's (currently) the only mount that can be freely obtained by anyone without issue. So it needs a cool ability that keeps it relevant, and it doesn't matter if it's OP, as it's available to everyone. My consideration would be a leap ability, perhaps it jumps forward 20m with a 30second cooldown. It's in keeping with Foxes, and it's a decent movement ability for getting players around quicker.
🐀 Barrow Rat :
The Barrow Rat is one of 3 new mounts, and is obtainable from a low level breach, thus would in theory be more obtainable than the other 2 mounts for the majority of players. Although, from myself and others findings, it is a longer grind to receive it. I think in connection with Rats being good swimmers, the Barrow Rat should be the only mount that can swim and have increased movement speed in water, perhaps with a longer fatigue bar too. However, it comes at a cost of a reduced Land movement speed, to keep things balanced.
🕷️ Emberweave Spider :
Obtained from a high level breach, the spider is super unique in appearance. I think it would be really fun if we saw a means to climb the hundreds of mountainous slopes and terrains in the world of Elegon. With the changes to the jump ability, so many slopes are now inaccessible, cutting off loads of the playable area in the game. If the spider could scale higher slopes than the average player, that would be an awesome ability.
🐺 Cinderpelt Wolf :
Obtained from an End game breach, the Cinderpelt Wolf has a strikingly similar appearance to the Onyx Fox, however it feels bigger and burlier. I think it would be really cool to see a mount that can tank damage. I think whilst riding the Cinderpelt Wolf, the player should take reduced damage from attacking creatures. Giving the player a safe option for exploration or running through packs of creatures.
These are all just ideas, but I personally really like the idea of giving each and every mount a purpose, so they don't just get used briefly and then forgotten when a new mount is released.
Pending
i honestly just want to use the mount i like most and get a speed bonus and the rest of it should be cosmetic. otherwise i can see a "mount power creep" coming.
