Crafting Skill Specialisation
With the introduction of Mining, I realised that everyone is going to have every (Gathering) skill. I'm unsure how Production skills are planned to work, but a big issue I see with having all gathering skills available to every player, is the fact that no-one will need to buy resources off other players for production, as they'll either have them or have the means to farm them. So, I considered TWO solutions to this: ● 1) Gathering Skill Points - Each gathering skill has a skill tree, and the player receives a Gathering Skill Point for every other time they level up, resulting in 40 Skill points at max level. Ultimately, I'd see each skill tree having around 20-30 nodes, this would result in a player only being able to full master one gathering skill. I think you'd have minor and major nodes, with the end node being a major material gathered, meaning you'd have a lesser supply of them creating a market for them. In thought, I like the idea of gathering tiers of gemstones and rare metals from mining, I don't think they would operate like the Class Talent system, there wouldn't be cut offs, so you could stack your points into all the early nodes of each gathering skill, or you could push into having minimal points so you could reach the end. ● 2) Becoming a Virtuoso - Rather than attaching Skill Points to the main leveling system, the player specialises in a gathering skill either through the skill menu or through a Master NPC, once a skill is chosen, the player is locked out from mastering any other skill, they can still use that skill, but will receive the bare minimum, sometimes even failing, resulting in no loot. By Mastering in a skill you gave skill points for every X levels in that skill, and these can be spent in a talent tree. However unlike the previous idea, there's only 1 talent tree available to the player. On top of this, there would be more nodes available than points, meaning players would have to choose the optimal route that benefits them. Perhaps having a split of the bottom major node, with only 1 available, so the player becomes a true Virtuoso. In the instance of Mining, a split being Rare Elegon Metals and Rare Elegon Gemstones, which could lead a player down the route of Mastering either Blacksmithing or Jewelcrafting (Dependant on the finalisation of Production Skills)
