Wolf flew into a tree

I aggroed a wolf while standing next to a tree picking up wood piles. The wolf ran toward me, and when it hit the tree, it flew up into the air and disappeared, but it was still attacking me. I ran away for about 100 feet, and then it reappeared on the ground and I was able to target it again.
